GENERAL FAQs

  • How does Glowstick work?
    • Glowstick engages your guests throughout your event by texting them specific messages at points in time. You're in complete control of the experience -- what the messages say, how many messages there are, and when they're sent. Guests can respond to those messages with photos, which are then added to your personal Glowstick photo album to enjoy and share!

  • Do I or my guests need to download an app on our phones?
    • Nope! All the event setup steps can be done from the Glowstick website on your computer or phone, and guests can respond directly to those texts with their photos.

  • What if I don’t have cell or internet service at my event venue?
    • Since Glowstick works by sending and receiving text messages, reliable cell service at your venue is required for things to work properly. Without reliable cell service, your prompts may not be received by guests at the right time or at all, and photos they send back might not make it to your Glowstick album.

  • What do I do if I already entered my information but don't want to use Glowstick anymore?
    • Hopefully we can figure out a way to still help you enjoy Glowstick! If not, just delete your event.

  • Does Glowstick work internationally?
    • Glowstick text messages work in 242 countries, with the exception of New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. If you’re having a destination event in a country that’s different than your home (e.g. you have a US phone number but are doing your event in Mexico), you’ll need to be enabled for an international data plan, connect to the local cell network, or connect to WiFi (and have SMS via WiFi enabled on your phone) to receive messages. The Glowstick photo album is always available for uploading and viewing photos/videos when you’re connected to the internet no matter where you’re located.

  • What does "test mode" mean?
    • We want to make sure that you can fully test all the aspects of Glowstick before your event! For that reason, all events start in "test mode" where you can send up to 3 messages to up to 3 guests at any point. You and those guests will also be able to access and add photos to your live album. If you want to send more messages or include more people, you'll need to enter payment information for your event, which then moves your event from "test mode" to live mode.

EVENTS

  • Can I have more then one event use Glowstick at the same time?
    • Yep! Click the "Create New Event" button and add your details, prompts, and guests for each one. Your payment information will be the same for all events.

  • What if my event lasts more than one day?
    • No problem at all -- Glowstick easily supports multi-day events! Just make sure your start and end dates are accurate.

  • Can I change my event dates or times after signing up?
    • Yep, event dates and times can be changed so long as the start date is at least 1 day from now.

TEXT PROMPTS

  • How will guests know that the texts are coming from Glowstick?
    • One hour before your first prompt, we'll send an introduction text to your guests. We'll also include the word Glowstick at the beginning of all your prompts.

  • How many text prompts can I have for my event?
    • As many as you want, but take a look at our prompt suggetions to see examples of what we recommend for your type of event.

  • How long can the texts be?
    • Your message can be up to 149 characters (including spaces and punctuation) due to carrier restrictions. Emojis aren't currently supported.

  • Are there any restrictions for what I can say?
    • Glowstick is meant to be fun and interactive, and we want you to have control of your guests' experience! In extreme situations, messages that are deemed to be overly offensive may be removed from your list at our discretion.

  • Can I make changes to prompts after I create them?
    • Yep, click the edit button for the prompt you want to change. Changes can be made at any point before that specific message is sent.

  • Can I send different prompts to different guests?
    • You sure can! Create as many groups as you want to fully customize your guests’ experience!

GUESTS

  • How many guests can I have for my event?
    • As many as you want, but take a look at our pricing to see how fees change based on guest count.

  • How do guests get added to my event?
    • Guests can be added in any of three ways:
      1. You enter their information one by one on your event page (best for small events)
      2. You upload a CSV or Excel file with their information on your event page (best for large events if you already have their contact information)
      3. You share your event's guest signup link so they can enter their information themselves (best for large events if you don't have everyone's information or if you want them to opt-in themselves)
    • Go to the Guests section of your event page to see all those options.

  • Can guests opt out of receiving the texts?
    • Yes, guests can reply "STOP" to any of the messages to opt out of future texts. Due to carrier rules, all guests will always have this option at any point.

  • Can I make changes to the guest list after I add some?
    • You can add more guests to your list at any point, even after your event starts. You can delete guests from your list until your event begins.

  • What if I add more guests throughout the event that pushes me into a higher price tier?
    • After your event ends, we will charge your payment method for the difference if needed.

LIVE FEED & PHOTOS

  • Is there a limit to how many photos guests can upload?
    • Guests can upload as many photos and videos as they want!

  • Can I share the photo album with guests?
    • Absolutely! Your photos are hosted in a dedicated Glowstick album to anyone who has your 6-character event code, so send out that link far and wide!

  • When can I see the photos?
    • Immediately after your guests send them in!

  • How long do I have access to my online album after my event ends?
    • Your album will be live for 6 months from the time your event ends. We'll email you a reminder when those 6 months are almost up.

PRICING & PAYMENTS

  • How much does Glowstick cost?
    • Pricing is based on how many guests you have for your event. You can see our current standard event pricing here. Standard pricing excludes any Premium event upgrades or early payment discounts.

  • When will I be charged?
    • You'll be charged the day before your event starts, based on the number of guests for your event. If more guests are added throughout your event that pushes you into a higher price tier, you’ll see a second charge by the end of your event for the price difference.

  • Can I split my payment across different methods?
